The company reported revenue for the year of $340.8 million, up 5.3 percent from 2006. Pilot saw the largest increases in its international and government sales, up 17.6 percent and 23 percent respectively from 2007. Overall, Pilot’s international network handled over 722,000 shipments over the year, totaling more than 460 million pounds of freight. “For the fifth year in a row, Pilot has seen record-breaking earnings. This year’s revenue represents a 57 percent increase over our 2002 earnings,” says John Hill, Executive Vice President of Sales for Pilot. “This significant rise can be attributed to the hard work of all of our employees, both in our individual stations, as well as our corporate sales and operations teams. Their ability to continually evolve to meet our customers’ changing supply chain needs sets Pilot apart from the competition.” Pilot made several significant changes in 2007, including changing its name from Pilot Air Freight to Pilot Freight Services, to reflect its continually expanding service offerings. Pilot also created a new Logistics Services Division, which includes custom warehousing solutions and expedited delivery services, as well as an Automotive Services Division to serve the automotive industry and grow its domestic business. Internationally, the company opened its first Asian office in Hong Kong to facilitate on-the-ground support, offer faster customer service, and strengthen ties with Pilot partners U-Freight and Global Alliance Logistics (GAL). ### Pilot Freight Services Appoints New President LIMA, Pa.—January 31, 2008—Pilot Freight Services, a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, announced today that Lou Cortese, a long-time veteran of the company, has been appointed President. The announcement was made by Pilot’s Chairman, Richie Phillips. Cortese succeeds Gene Malcolm, who will remain with the company and serve as Vice President of Strategic Planning. Cortese, who holds more than 37 years of freight forwarding experience, began his career with Pilot Freight Services in 1985 and has held a succession of key operational positions during his tenure. All accessorial fees, tariff rules, and regulations remain unchanged. The company’s last rate change was in January 2007. This adjustment is a response to higher operating expenses such as ground transportation fuel (gasoline and diesel), which increased 40 percent on average over the past year; and jet fuel, which rose 39 percent year over year, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
